Chat with Buildy to build and edit your app

Type what you want in the chat box, Buildy changes the preview, and you publish when you are happy. One request at a time works best.

Everything in Buildy starts in the chat on the right of your project. Type what you want in Message Buildy, press Enter, and watch Preview change.

Steps

  1. Open your project. The chat is on the right. On a phone, tap Chat in the bottom bar.
  2. Type your request. Press Enter to send. Press Shift+Enter for a new line.
  3. Buildy tells you when it starts background work and lets you know when it is ready. It sends another update if it has a useful result, hits a blocker or needs your decision. If Buildy asks a question, type your answer in Message Buildy.
  4. Check Preview. If it is not what you wanted, reply and say what to change.
  5. Click Publish & Share when you want the change on your live site.

While Buildy works, Stop appears in the empty message box. Click it to stop Buildy and its teammates. If you have a draft or attachments, the box shows Send. Clear the draft and remove attachments to show Stop again. The message still uses the credits spent so far. If the stop left a change half done, restore the checkpoint from before it.

Stop ends the current work. Buildy can start unfinished work again when your next message clearly continues or revises that request. Stopped teammates start a new attempt; their unfinished changes are not restored. For example, after stopping receptionist setup, "Make sure you include text chat too" tells Buildy to continue with that addition. You can also say "Continue setting up the receptionist." A greeting or an unrelated request does not restart stopped work. If your intent is unclear, Buildy asks before starting again.

See what Buildy is doing

A small Buildy image and a status line appear below the latest message while Buildy thinks or works. A soft highlight moves across the status text. The line shows the current topic or task when available. Otherwise, it says Thinking... or Working.... Three moving dots and Typing... appear as soon as Buildy starts writing a reply.

The status line stays visible if background work continues after a reply. It disappears when the work ends. You can keep chatting while Buildy works. Click Current work under the contact image to see active teammate tasks.

When Buildy brings in a teammate

For bigger requests, Buildy hands parts of the work to teammates, such as the Engineer or the Marketer. A Your team is on it card appears under Buildy's reply with one row per teammate. Each row shows the teammate's name, what it is doing, its latest action, and how long it has been working.

  • Use the main Stop button to stop Buildy and all its teammates.
  • Click Show actions to see what a teammate did.
  • When every teammate is done, the card header says Your team is done and each row shows a check mark.
  • If a teammate could not finish or was stopped, its row says so.

What you can ask for

Buildy can build pages, forms, sign-in, an online store, a blog, a booking flow, a dashboard for your data and more. It can also write ads, posts and emails, create images and videos, and set up your agents. If you are not sure, just ask: "What can you do for a yoga studio?" Buildy explains and offers to start.

Use an earlier message or file

Ask Buildy to find something from this project's chat, such as "Quote the delivery rules I sent last week" or "Find the logo I attached earlier." Buildy can search older messages, read its earlier replies, and open attachments that are still available.

You can also ask for an image or video Buildy generated earlier, or details of an earlier action. Buildy can recover saved links and inspect earlier tool results when the chat reply does not contain enough detail. Links must still be available to open the files.

To keep your exact words in a project file, ask "Save my original About page text into a file without changing the wording." Buildy can copy the saved message or a selected passage directly. Tell it the file name if you have one in mind.

This works even when the conversation is too long for Buildy to keep every message in its current context. It does not recover deleted messages or deleted files, or search another project's chat.

Tips

  • Buildy gives directions for the layout on your screen.
  • Every message is one task. Ask for one change, check it, then ask for the next.
  • Say where: "On the home page, under the hero, add three testimonials."
  • Attach a screenshot or a file when it helps. Click Attach.
  • Each reply shows its cost in Building credits. See Plans, credits & billing.

Common problems

I need to change a request while Buildy works

Send the correction in Message Buildy. Buildy reads it before its next step and passes relevant changes to its helpers. It finishes the step already running first. If Buildy is already giving its final answer, it handles your message next. Free preview repairs and ordinary requests run separately, so one waits while the other finishes.

"Building credits have run out. Upgrade your plan to continue."

You used this month's Building credits. Upgrade on Billing & Upgrades, or wait for the monthly reset shown in your profile menu.

"The connection dropped before we could finish. Please try again."

Send the message again. Your project is saved.
