Undo changes with Checkpoint History
Buildy saves a checkpoint after every change. Open History beside Buildy or on a checkpoint card and click Restore to go back. Restoring costs no credits.
Every change Buildy makes is saved as a checkpoint. If a change went wrong, restore the checkpoint from before it. Restoring is free.
Steps
- Click History beside Buildy or on a checkpoint card in the chat.
- Find the version you want. Each checkpoint shows what changed and when. Use the search box to find one by what it says.
- Click Restore on that checkpoint.
- Confirm with Restore in the dialog.
- Click Open preview on the current checkpoint card, or click Preview at the top (Preview at the bottom on a phone). Then click Publish & Share if you want the live site to match.
Chat cards show the same checkpoint numbers as History. Saved checkpoints use the same compact card without descriptions or dates. Click Open preview on the current checkpoint to see it, or Restore on an older checkpoint to return to it. Open preview becomes available when your project is ready. Click History on any card to see what changed and when. After a restore, the card shows which checkpoint you returned to.
Wait for Buildy to finish its current task before restoring. The button is disabled while Buildy works.
What restore does and does not do
- It puts your site's pages, design and code back to that point.
- It does not undo data. Contacts, orders, blog posts and form entries stay as they are.
- It does not undo actions outside your site, like a social post that was already published or an email that was sent.
- It does not change your live site until you publish.
A restore is a new checkpoint. You can restore forward again if you change your mind.
Common problems
"Couldn't restore previous version"
Wait a minute and try again. If it keeps failing, open Chat with support and say which checkpoint you tried.
"Some backend functions couldn't be restored"
The pages were restored, but one of the behind-the-scenes functions was not. Ask Buildy in chat to check the feature that uses it, for example "Check that the contact form still sends emails."
