My checkout button does not work
Check that your Stripe key is added and matches test or live mode, and that you published your latest site changes.
A checkout button that does nothing, or shows an error, is nearly always a key problem: the Stripe key is missing or is for the wrong mode. Check those first.
Steps
- If you never added your Stripe key, ask Buildy in chat to "set up Stripe" and click Add API Key when it appears.
- Check the mode. A key starting with
sk_test_only works with test cards. A key starting withsk_live_takes real cards. Use the live key on your live site. A key change works right away, with no new publish. - If you changed your site's pages since your last publish, click Publish & Share. Page changes reach the live site only when you publish.
- Open the live site in a private window and try the button again.
- Still broken? In chat, say: "The checkout button on the Pricing page does nothing. Please check it and fix it." Buildy looks for the error and tries to fix it.
Common problems
The button works in the preview but not on the live site
You did not publish after the last change. Click Publish & Share.
The customer pays but my site does not show the order
Ask Buildy to "record the order after a successful Stripe payment and show it on the thank-you page".
