# Build an online store with a cart

Buildy can build a full online store: product pages, a cart, checkout with Stripe and an order list for you. Describe your products in chat and Buildy builds it.

## Steps

1. Set up [Stripe](/docs/payments/accept-payments-with-stripe) first, or let Buildy ask for the key while it builds.
2. In chat, describe the store: "Build an online store for my candle shop. Six products with a photo, name, price and description. Add a cart and Stripe checkout. Collect a shipping address."
3. Give the real products. Paste a list or attach a spreadsheet with name, price and description. Attach photos, or ask Buildy to generate them.
4. Test in **Preview**: add to cart, check out with Stripe's test card, and look at the order under **Advanced > Data Management**.
5. Click **Publish & Share**.

## Manage products and orders

- Add or change products in chat ("Add a lavender candle for $18") or in **Advanced > Data Management** under the product entity.
- Orders are saved in Data Management. Ask Buildy to "email me every new order" or to "add an orders page for admins".
- Buyers are not added to **Contacts** on their own. To add them, ask Buildy to "add each buyer to my contacts as a customer".

## Good to know

- Start with a small set of products, then add more. For a long list, attach a spreadsheet in chat.
- Shipping rates, discount codes, stock counts and variants like sizes are all possible. Ask for them one at a time.
- Digital products work too: "After payment, show a download link for the PDF."

## Common problems

### The cart empties when I reload

Ask Buildy: "Keep the cart when the page reloads."

### Stripe shows the wrong total

Check the prices in Data Management and ask Buildy to "recalculate the cart total including shipping".
