# Post to Instagram from Buildy

Buildy publishes photos, carousels of 2 to 10 images, and Reels to an Instagram professional account. Connect it once in **Social Media**, then publish or schedule posts.

## Before you start

Instagram only lets apps post to professional accounts (Business or Creator). In the Instagram app, open **Settings > Account type and tools** and switch to a professional account. It is free. You do not need a Facebook Page.

## Steps

1. Open **Social Media** from **Dashboard**, or **Tools** on a phone.
2. Click **Connect accounts** or **Manage connections**, choose **Instagram** in the panel, then click **Connect Instagram**. Sign in with your Instagram account and allow the permissions.
3. Click **New Post**, choose Instagram, a post type and a topic, then click **Continue** and **Start with Buildy**. Buildy writes the caption and makes the image. Turn on **Carousel post** for a set of images.
4. Open the draft and click **Publish to Instagram**, or **Schedule** for a later time.

For a Reel, make a video in **Images & Video** and click **Send to a social post**. See [Generate videos](/docs/build/generate-videos).

## Good to know

- Instagram ads do not use this connection. They run through your Meta connection on the Meta Ads page.
- Ask in chat for a series: "Write five Instagram posts about our new yoga classes, one per day." They wait in **Social Media > Needs review**.

## Common problems

### Instagram does not connect

Instagram only connects professional accounts. Switch the account to Business or Creator in the Instagram app, then click **Connect Instagram** again.

### The post failed

If the post shows **Publishing Failed**, click **Publish to Instagram** again. If it fails again, reconnect Instagram. See [Fix a Facebook or Instagram connection](/docs/marketing/fix-facebook-instagram-connection).
