# Write and publish blog posts

Enable your blog and Buildy adds the blog pages and a navigation link to your site. Then write posts yourself or with Buildy. Blog posts help Google find your site.

## Enable your blog

1. Open **Blog** from **Dashboard**, or **Tools** on a phone.
2. Click **Enable blog**. Paid plans only. Buildy prepares the blog, then automatically starts adding its pages and navigation. Follow progress in chat; there is no second setup button or confirmation.
3. Wait for Buildy to finish and check the blog in your preview. Existing blog pages and links are reused. Setup does not create sample posts or publish anything.
4. Click **Publish & Share** when you are ready to put the blog live.

**Blog enabled** means the CMS is ready for posts. Site setup progress is shown separately. A queued request stays queued until Buildy picks it up; you do not need to click again. If that request fails or is canceled, **Retry site setup** sends a new request without enabling the CMS again. **Check setup progress** retries a status check, not the setup itself.

If your blog was enabled before automatic setup was added, ask Buildy in chat to add it to your site. If Buildy needs more information or reports unfinished work, continue in chat before publishing.

You enable the blog once. There is no off switch. To hide a post, use **Unpublish**.

Post addresses look like `/blog/category/post-title`.

## Write a post

1. On the Blog page, click **Write with Buildy** and say what the post is about: "A 600-word post on how to choose a wedding photographer." Buildy saves it as a draft.
2. Or click **New Post** to write it yourself.
3. Pick a category. To add one, open **Categories** and click **New Category**. Enter its name, change the **Category web address** if you want, and click **Create Category**. The address must be unique and use lowercase letters and numbers, with single hyphens between words. Or click **Create with Buildy** to create categories in chat.
4. Click **Save Draft** to keep working, or **Publish** to put it on your site. Click **Update Post** after edits, or **Unpublish** to hide it.

Not sure what to write? Ask Buildy in chat to plan topics your customers search for. For example: "Give me ten blog post ideas for a pet grooming business, then write the first one."

## Common problems

### The blog page does not show on my site

Check the setup result in chat and open the blog in your preview. If **Retry site setup** appears after a failed or canceled request, click it to try again. Once the preview is ready, publish your site. **Write with Buildy** drafts an article; it is separate from site setup.

### "The CMS entities are being initialized"

The blog is still being set up. Wait a minute and refresh the page. If it keeps showing, check that Blog shows **Blog enabled**.

### A post will not open or save

Refresh the page and try again. If the post is damaged, create a new post and paste the text in.
