# Stop a domain renewal

A domain bought through Buildy renews every year. To stop that, remove the domain from the project. The registration stays valid until the end of the year you paid for, but your site and email on that domain stop right away.

## Stop the renewal

1. Open **Domain & Email** from **Dashboard**, or **Tools** on a phone.
2. Click the trash icon on the domain row.
3. Confirm **Remove this domain from your project and stop future domain renewals?** You see "Domain removed. Renewal cancellation requested."

> [!WARNING]
> Removing the domain takes effect right away. Your site stops loading on that domain, email sending from it stops, and every inbox on it is deleted with all its email. Your site is still on its `superdev.run` address and any other domains.

Cancelling your Buildy plan also stops domain renewals.

## Move the domain to another registrar

Buildy has no button to move a domain to another registrar. To ask about it, open **Chat with support** with the domain name.

## Common problems

### I removed the domain by mistake

Add it back with **Connect existing domain** in the same project. Your site goes back on the domain. Email does not come back on its own: click **Set Up Email** in **Email sending** and **Set up Inbox** in **Email inbox** again. Mail in the deleted inboxes cannot be restored. The renewal stays stopped. If you want it to renew, open **Chat with support**.

### I was charged for a renewal I did not want

Buildy does not offer refunds. Follow the steps above so the domain does not renew again.
