# Set up email sending from your domain

Email sending lets your broadcasts, sequences and form notifications go out from your own domain, like `hello@example.com`. Set it up in **Domain & Email** under **Email sending**. It needs a connected domain.

## Steps

1. Open **Domain & Email** from **Dashboard**, or **Tools** on a phone.
2. Open **Email sending**. Buildy starts email setup on its own when you buy or connect a domain. If you see **Set Up Email** next to your domain, click it.
3. If you bought the domain through Buildy, the records are added for you. Wait until it shows **Verified**, then go to step 6.
4. For a domain you own elsewhere, Buildy shows one list of sending and link-tracking records. Verified records are short rows. Records marked **Not verified** show the type, name and value to copy to your registrar.
5. Save at the registrar. Back in Buildy, click **Check DNS**. This usually takes a few minutes but can take up to 72 hours. The same button retries failed setup.
6. When the domain shows **Verified**, the sender settings appear. Fill them in:
   - **Sender Name**: what people see in their inbox, like your business name.
   - **Default Sender Email Address**: type only the part before the `@`, for example `hello`.
7. Click **Save Settings**.
8. Under **Email footer**, add your **Physical Address** and click **Save footer**. It is required for marketing emails.

## Edit your email footer

Open **Domain & Email > Email sending > Email footer**. Leave **Business name in email footer** empty to use Business Profile, or enter a name just for email. Click **Use Business Profile** to restore the shared name, then **Save footer**. This does not change your From name or Business Profile.

You can also set a physical mailing address and extra footer content. Unsubscribe links stay. In a sequence or draft broadcast, open **Email footer** to override the address or extra content. **Use project default** removes that override. **Remove extra content** hides the optional text for that campaign.

Changes apply when emails are prepared. Already queued or sent emails keep their footer. Scheduled broadcasts use defaults when prepared. Automatic replies use project defaults. Sent-broadcast previews use current settings and may differ from delivered emails.

You can ask Buildy to make these changes in chat. For example: "Use Acme Studio in my email footer only. Keep Business Profile, From name and email copy unchanged."

## Good to know

- Sending uses Operating credits, about 4.5 per email.
- Email sending and the email inbox are separate steps. Set up [your inbox](/docs/domains-email/email-inbox) to receive replies.

## Common problems

### "Marketing email is blocked until you add a physical mailing address"

Enter your business address under **Email sending > Email footer > Physical Address** and click **Save footer**.

### Status stays "Pending" or "Partly Verified"

Check the records marked **Not verified** against your registrar, then click **Check DNS**. Keep verified records as they are. If Buildy says **Could not check**, try **Check DNS** again before changing records.

You can also ask Buildy in your project chat or **Chat with support** to check your domain's live DNS. After you fix the records, ask: "Verify email sending for example.com." Use your own domain name and sign in to the account that owns it.

Buildy can start email verification or check an attempt already in progress. **Pending** means the check is still running. Buildy reports success only when the email provider confirms verification. This action does not edit DNS, create an inbox, or send emails.
